  1. My wife almost died from sepsis about 3 years ago. By the time she came home, she was a paraplegic. She spent 2 years bedridden. That will absolutely do a number on your muscles! In order to get her to the point where she could stand, several different PTs came out to the house, but none of them were equipped to handle someone in that bad of shape. I bought a Total Gym XLS off of Craigslist for $100 and then paid for a new footboard. I had to use a Hoyer to move her around the house, so I’d put her on the TG, and she started doing squats. It took about 4 months, but she finally got strong enough to move herself from her bed to her wheelchair by herself. I absolutely believe that without the TG, she would still be bedridden.

  2. I have the GR8FLEX. It’s similar but cheaper. And, it comes with all the accessories, including resistance bands that attach underneath the slide to holes between the leg squad attachments and the lower frame. I’ve had it for around 2 years now and I love it. I also have the Bowflex adjustable kettlebell, a foldable bench a a set of dumbbells. It all fits inside my closet. Living in a 2 bedroom townhouse, I don’t have a garage and all this equipment fits neatly in a closet. Thanks to your videos I learned a lot about the new quick set dumbbells out on the market and I’ll probably go for the Neo.

  3. I had a Total Gym 14000 for over 20 years. I loved it. I gave it away when I bought the machine you are showing. Bottom line, I liked my old machine better.

  4. I tried one out at Sears back in the 90s and thought it was garbage. It might be good for someone in their 70s, but not for anyone under 65. Even at the highest incline most exercises are too easy. Most people who workout can bench more than their body weight and squat much more than their body weight. At 45% you are only only lifting half your bodyweight.
